I’m not usually a fan of cars but I might make an exception for this one. Even at £40.00 a pop for the petrol just to drive around Deptford it would be so cool.

Apparently it is the only one of these Cadillac hearses in the country. I can believe it.

And to make it more fairy-tale still, it had a previous life rusting away in a Louisiana field.

The bottom two photos were taken with a 1936 LTM Leitz Elmar 90/4 mounted on the M6. The broken windscreen shows that it can be remarkably sharp. The top photo was taken with a 1970′s Leitz Summicron 35/2 IV and manages to look more like the results I’d expect from the Elmar… But I like it.

I also like Hank Williams though.

This post has no relevance to the Three Lions badge worn by the England ‘football’ team… except perhaps the second and the final photo. Images of banjo’s and the cow’s arses were unavailable, but there is a horse’s arse.

Deptford Creek

The white marks are not from a filthy neg. The air is full of fluffy floating dandelion-clock-like seeds at the moment, reminiscent of some half recalled John Wyndham science fiction. They were floating on the surface of the Creek and that is what you can see… My darkroom isn’t that bad.

For last three weeks I’ve definitely had the kind of mentalist blockage towards the cameras summed up so eloquently above. Which is not a good thing, I need my fix.

I’ve been carrying the little Ricoh with me assiduously every day for the last three weeks but it hasn’t come out of the bag. At the moment digital just isn’t doing it for me so yesterday I got back to basics with 35mm and simplicity.

It is a relief to get back into the darkroom. Even if it is 35mm. How snaky and small it is compared to 120 and despite no-brainer Hewes reels with the ‘horns’ I was out of practice spooling the film. 35mm is just fiddly and the rolls of film are looooong.

But the process made me feel good. It must be a zen thing.
