The adventure with film and the site is now over one year old, so it was about time.

The photo above was one of the ones that started this project off – Leica IIf RD, Summitar 50 f/2, Delta 100, DD-X 12mins. Obviously in the days when I could afford Ilford DD-X and Ilford Delta! I also rapidly lost interest in both that particular developer and film. I was going for something bombproof at the time and the combo looked good. I now prefer the older emulsions and developers, particularly when using old lenses (The Summitar on the Leica is about 60 years old, the Leica itself a mere 53 years).

This the first post!

I’ll be using this blog primarily to record my film development experiences. Seems easier than writing it all down on post-its and bits of paper that get lost. There will be many links back to snapsthoughts which is my image ‘dump’. However, snapsthoughts it is too general to discuss film tech/geekery, so here we are.

WordPress has been very easy to set up and customise, so that is a bonus. But given what I do for a living, it would be poor if I couldn’t do it. I extensively customised the NewZen stock theme by Shelby DeNike & made it more ‘photographic’ with my own images/design. Tis tempting to go really cheesy, but hey…

The weather has been sh*t this weekend in London, so photo-opps have been limited. So limited in fact, that I quickly shot a roll of Fomapan 400 between biblical showers (on the If) and had a first attempt at stand-development in Rodinal. I’m quite pleased by the results considering I was expecting the worst (see image). Bit more on that in a further post.

The ubergeeks will have noticed that the banner is a film leader trimmed for a bottom loading Leica LTM. Nuff said…
