We’ve been in Pembrokeshire, Wales for the last week.

Not Deptford!

It seems that by some fluke we had the only week of unbroken sun all ‘Summer’ in this part of Wales. What made it sweeter still was that it pissed-down in London big-time for the first part of the week. Jackpot!

For once I decided to leave the DSLR at home and just take one of the Rolleis (the Automat 4), the Zero 2000 pinhole, plus the Ricoh GR2. This made for a lightweight camera bag and allowed me to concentrate on 6×6 and have ‘fun’ with the little digi (the photos above and below are from the GR2).

I thought the weather would be crap (lateish September in the UK after all, and Wales, nuff said) and photography opportunities limited but as each amazingly bright day unfolded I felt compelled to photograph, thinking each one would be the last chance. The result is a mountain of exposed FP4+ which is presenting some logistical problems development wise. I’d packed 25 rolls of FP4+ and 30 of HP5+, expecting to use the HP5+. No way. I used all the FP4+ at EI 100.

Over the week I discovered that I am not a landscape photographer… more about that later though.

From a practical point of view, I’ve already loaded up a four (120) reel tank and developed some of the films. They are drying in the shower now. This big tank takes 2 litres each of developer, stop, fix and flo and therefore weighs ITRO 2+ kilos. The quantities of chemicals that need mixing and shifting are a bit daunting, as is the potential (for me at least) to bollox 4 rolls of film simultaneously. I need to pay attention. Repeat, I need to pay attention.
