I’ve been fairly lazy about metering, relying on reflected light and compensating accordingly. This has also been due to expedience because the little VC Meter II only does reflected light. Incident light metering has always worried me slightly because I’m always fretting about subjects that are distant and in very different light than me. My arms aren’t long enough…
Well, there is only one way to learn so from today I’m only going to be using the L358 with the lumisphere (unless reflected light is a must). Well, not quite one way to learn, I trawled the exposure forums at APUG and gleaned a huge amount of knowledge.
Sight screen, Greenwich Park
A white(ish) sight screen against a dark and light background. The sight screen is pleasingly white(ish) and I like the fact that it is framed by the trees.
St Alfege, sunlight on the plants
I emphasised the highlights, shame about the flare. I’m looking for a 37mm push on hood for the Super Ikonta… Gravestones loom in the background.
Trees, Greenwich Park
Morden Hill Lane
The trees in Greenwich Park were taken late in the evening with a low sun. The benches in this curious seating area were shot the following morning, fairly early, again with a low sun. I had to deal with huge contrasts in the latter photo.
Door, church on Blackheath Common
Bricked up window
Sooo, interesting, and not quite the cock-up I was expecting. In fact I more or less got what I expected. This excercise has made me think a lot more about light, which is a good thing.
