Finding this chair at The Old Royal Naval College made my day!
Electric chair
I’m learning about controlling the flare on the Yashica-Mat. It is simply something that has to be factored in. I’m using a 3rd party lens hood and although it doesn’t vignette, it only partially controls the flare. I got sniped on ebay for a Yashica hood which went for a surprising amount…
The lens is very sharp though, below is a 100% crop of the switch box
The rest of the day was spent ‘practising’. I feel mildly self-concious with this rig, incident metering etc etc. It ain’t a point and shoot, the process is necessarily slow.
Most of the photos I took were of trees or the Old Royal Naval College.
There are some serious windows in the ORNC. I like the shapes and patterns in the shot below, especially the recursive windows, their different arches and surrounds.
Continuing to use the rodinal/HP5+ EI200 combo. I like the grain and tonality, especially in the shot below
Using the Yashica-Mat is fun. It really makes me think about what I’m doing.

What third party hood did you purchase? Do you believe that the Yashica branded Bayonet I hood is a different size/shape than the one you have, or is flare just part of the nature of Yashicamat lenses?
I picked up a Yashica hood. It is different to a Rollei hood since it seems to be kept on the bayonet by spring tension rather than locking on solid like the Rolleis. I tried a Rollei hood on the YashicaMat and it was a tight fit, I thought it was never going to come off!
Flare is an issue with the Yashinon in certain lights, but I have a Rollei Automat that exhibits the same characteristics in the same situations. Once aware of it, it is easy enough to compensate with a hand to shade the lens. The Yashinon is a superb lens, enjoy yours
