Monthly Archives: June 2009 I’ve been having lots of fun with the Holga and went out today with this 6×6 camera loaded with 35mm film. Fire Station This firestation image scanned to about 16 inches long. It occupies nearly 4 35mm neg frames. I loaded the Holga with an old roll of Fomapan 400 35mm. It is kind of…  I haven’t used the Holga much because I haven’t been able to scan the 6×6 negs until now and paying Snappy Snaps £9.00 or whatever to scan each roll from a £15.00 camera seemed a little too much to pay for dubious art photos. But now I can scan 120 roll film I will! So… Camera Obscura Lucida* by Roland Barthes. Have you read it? Can you read it? I’ve been reading extracts and I have some serious issues with it. I know a lot of big words but obviously not as many as Roland Barthes. I found it hard to actually understand what he was saying from the outset…  1996, Moulin des Grels, on the Riviere la Durenque near Noailhac near Castres near Toulouse. Not really near anywhere… I found the negs recently and scanned them. I’d just got the FM2n and hadn’t really got a clue. Somehow I’d managed to drink half a bottle of brandy before lunch. I’ve photographed it before (often…) but one of the advantages of repeatedly visiting somewhere is that you get the chance to both develop ideas and take advantage of different light. It becomes possible to anticipate and execute pre-visualisation more effectively. The playground holds… |
